Our History
MSH Insurance traces it's origins back to 1922 when Rocky Mount Insurance and Real Estate was formed. In 1924, co-owners T.L. Simmons and Charles C. Harris, Sr. changed the name of the firm to Simmons & Harris, Inc. In 1984, the insurance and real estate divisions separated and Simmons and Harris Insurance Agency, Inc. was created. The J.N. Purinai Insurance Agency merged with Simmons & Harris that same year. In 1986, the A. Hicks Agency was purchased and its clients and companies were merged into the Simmons and Harris agency in 1993, Simmons and Harris merged with Mayo Insurance, forming MAYO, SIMMONS & HARRIS Insurance. That same year the agency relocated to the Mayo Building on Franklin Street. Beginning in 2000, MAYO, SIMMONS & HARRIS Insurance transitioned to MSH Insurance reflecting a contemporary feel for the agency while still honoring our heritage. In 2008 MSH Insurance relocated operations to a new facility in WoodStone Office Park and launched a new service called Azimuth 360 Program.
For more than 85 years, MSH Insurance has continued to grow along with the community by offering the finest selection of many forms of insurance protection and outstanding customer service. Today, the agency has 13 professionals on staff practicing personal, commercial, life and health insurance services. MSH Insurance is proud to be a member of the North Carolina Independent Insurance Agents Association and a Trusted Choice Agent. Our organization manages in excess of $10,000,000 of customer premium and $4,000,000 of employee benefits.
